HEIC to JPG Converter
Turn iPhone HEIC and HEIF photos into universal JPG or PNG files. Free, private and fast — your images are converted in your browser and never uploaded.
Your HEIC photos are decoded in your browser and never uploaded.
How it works
HEIC files use the HEVC codec, which browsers cannot natively draw to a canvas. To
convert them, this tool loads a dedicated WebAssembly decoder
(heic2any) the first time you click convert. The decoder unpacks each
photo and re-encodes it as a standard JPG or PNG entirely inside your browser tab.
Loading the engine on demand keeps every other page on the site lightweight, and
because the work is local, your photos are never transmitted anywhere.

Why convert HEIC to JPG
HEIC is excellent for saving space on your phone, but it causes friction the moment you leave Apple's ecosystem. Windows photo viewers, many web upload forms, older Android phones and plenty of editing apps simply refuse to open it. Converting to JPG produces a file that opens everywhere — in browsers, documents, social media and email — without asking the recipient to install anything.
Doing the conversion locally matters for privacy. Camera-roll photos are personal, and many free HEIC converters upload them to a server you do not control. Here the decoding happens in your own browser, so your pictures stay on your machine while still becoming universally compatible.

Frequently asked questions
What is a HEIC file?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the format iPhones and iPads use by default. It stores photos at high quality in roughly half the size of JPEG, but many Windows apps, websites and older devices cannot open it.
Are my HEIC photos uploaded to convert them?
No. Conversion runs entirely in your browser. The decoder is loaded on demand and your photos are processed locally, so personal images never leave your device or touch a server.
Can I convert HEIC to PNG instead of JPG?
Yes. Choose PNG as the output format before converting. JPG is best for sharing and small file sizes, while PNG is lossless and useful when you plan to edit the image further.
Why does the first conversion take a moment?
The HEIC decoding engine is only downloaded the first time you convert, which keeps the rest of the site fast. After it loads once, conversions are quick. The status line shows when the converter is loading.
Can I convert several HEIC photos at once?
Yes. Select or drop multiple .heic or .heif files and they are converted one after another, with a separate download button for each finished image.
How do I get HEIC files off my iPhone?
AirDrop, email or cable-transfer the photos to your computer, then drop them here. Alternatively, on iPhone you can set Settings → Camera → Formats to "Most Compatible" to shoot JPEG directly in future.
Image Tools converts HEIC photos entirely within your browser. Files are never uploaded.
